So this is the beginning. For a long time I have toyed with the idea of writing a blog, always coming to the conclusion that no one would find anything I have to say interesting or useful. I mean what does a regular person with a regular life and regular job blog about?
Over the last 4 years my weight and health have been very up and down. I've encountered a few different health problems that have caused me to gain weight. I've battled to lose weight sometimes winning but most often losing or putting it back on shortly afterwards. I've lost track of the many diets i have tried, I've hit the gym to the point of becoming addicted to going and also struggled to keep an old eating disorder at bay. Living in four different countries during that time I also think has played a part. You have to try the national and local foods and drinks from where you're living right!?
So the other day I saw this quote from Massimo Vignelli.
"If you do it right, it will last forever"
That brings me to where I am now. I feel I am ready for a new healthier approach to shedding this weight and generally adapting to a healthier way of life. I'm not going to start a new diet where you can eat only 500 calories a day or only eat a certain food group. Don't get me wrong I have thought about it but I have come to realise that it is not a longterm solution. I plan to keep this new approach to my diet and exercise very simple. I will eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink as much water as I can, walk more and try new exercises. I plan to use a calorie counter app that I have downloaded, but only so I can track how many I am eating and stay within the recommended limit. I believe that this is the 'right' way to approach my weightloss and with this I hope that that quite may just be true!
So the purpose of this blog isn't to see how many people I can get to follow me or to make any money. It's also not for me to give others expert advice or tell people what they should or shouldn't be doing (geez I don't even know what I should be doing). I've decided to start a blog to track the journey that I have begun to become healthier, fitter and thinner! I hope that I can get advice and support from others who may also be on a similar journey to me and share ideas and tips that will help us to achieve our goals!
